A week in Paris
Shortly after we arrived in Thure we had to vacate our cottage for a week.A wedding party had rented out Chateau de la Barbeliniere two weekends in a row, and both the gatehouse and our cottage were part of the deals.
Marie-Laure suggested Karen and I take the van to Paris, along with Marc and Gena, the other caretaking couple from New Zealand, and use the de Belinay's vacant rental in the suburbs. With only a short walk to the train, followed by a 15 minute ride to town, we could be right in the heart of Paris.
Of course we agreed.
Every morning Karen and I would take the train into the Montmartre station. We'd grab a pain chocolat at a bakery and then walk the streets, tour the museums and have lunch in sidewalk cafes. We spent a lot of time in the Marais and the Isle de la Cite, and poked into hidden corners in the Latin Quarter. Some days we just walked random streets, letting Paris choose the sights for the day.
